Health and Wellness
Plenary Health is committed to the principle that thoughtfully designed space and access to natural light can contribute to the well-being of individuals and promote healing.
Numerous gardens and landscape views, as well as natural lighting have been incorporated into the design to enhance mental wellness throughout the NHS health-care complex.
Courtyards and light wells penetrate the building mass and provide patients, staff and visitors with both daylight and views. Throughout the building, small rest areas, alcoves and quiet/family rooms provide places of respite.
The following are some of the approaches used in the design:
- Inpatient rooms and corridors will be enhanced with natural light
- Large interior public spaces will offer artful design and well-lit voluminous space with natural and tactile materials
- Corridors are short and often have external views to aid in wayfinding and to reduce overall anxiety
- A Healing Garden will provide patients, visitors and staff with a special labyrinth garden for therapeutic meditation and reflection
The NHS health-care complex will be a community space with inviting public areas that will encourage interaction between patients, visitors and staff:
- A two-storey, glass entry with ample natural light that will welcome visitors into the facility, and
- A two-storey seating area adjacent to the cafeteria that will provide a space for conversation and relaxation.
